Designed for rising 9th through 12th graders, Accelerate U summer camp program is designed for teens interested in exploring careers in the culinary and hospitality industry. Whether you’re an experienced ProStart® student, a budding chef or a complete newbie, these programs will give you a fun and exciting glimpse into life in a professional kitchen.
Held at GTC’s Truist Culinary & Hospitality Innovation Center, these four-day programs take place in CHI’s beautiful training kitchen and focus on building your confidence and skills for a variety of culinary adventures. Join our chefs to have fun while learning the techniques you need to cook a variety of delicious recipes from different cultures.
At the end of each class day, you’ll learn important culinary life skills to prepare you for cooking on your own, including how to create a food budget, how to repurpose leftovers into new dishes, and how to shop for the ingredients you need. This program also teaches essential skills like safe food handling and sanitation.

Get ready to embark on a delectable journey through the rich and indulgent world of French and Italian desserts. You will discover the secrets behind crafting authentic desserts that have captivated taste buds for centuries. During the camp, you will delve into the world of French patisserie, mastering the art of creating flaky croissants, buttery tarts, and heavenly macarons. You will learn the importance of precision and technique as you whip up classic French desserts like crème brûlée, gougères, and profiteroles.
In addition to French delicacies, you will also explore the enchanting world of Italian desserts. Dive into the secrets of making the perfect tiramisu and authentic cannoli. Our instructors will transport you to the charming streets of Italy. Armed with a collection of recipes and newfound skills, you will be equipped to recreate these mouthwatering delights in your own kitchen, impressing family and friends with your culinary prowess.

Take a culinary cruise around the Mediterranean then continue on to the various regions of Asia to discover what makes these some of the world’s most popular cuisines. From the sun-drenched coasts of Italy and Greece to the aromatic spices of Morocco, you will discover the unique characteristics that define each culinary tradition.
Over the course of four days, you’ll learn the techniques behind phenomenal dishes, like scratch-made pasta, ravioli and chicken kebabs. You will also get to try making exciting street foods like falafel and hummus, breads like pita and focaccia, and desserts like baklava. You will also explore the art of creating flavorful marinades, sauces, and dips that are the essence of Mediterranean cooking.
As you leave one region, this camp will take you on a gastronomic adventure, allowing you to discover the secrets behind mouthwatering Asian delicacies. From mastering the art of sushi rolling to perfecting Korean BBQ, Pad Thai, and dumplings, you will gain the skills and knowledge to recreate these delectable dishes in your own kitchen.
