Financial Responsibility

You are responsible for paying all college charges. If your financial aid award, scholarship or payment from an external source becomes unavailable or is insufficient to pay charges, you must pay the balance immediately. If you have outstanding charges, a financial hold will be placed on your account. These charges must be paid before you will be able to re-enroll or receive a diploma or transcript. Greenville Technical College will begin immediate collection efforts that may include placing your account with the South Carolina Department of Revenue Debt Set Off program and/or an outside collection agency. You will be responsible for all collection costs.

DROPPED CLASS

If you decide not to attend a class, you must officially drop that class within the refund period, or be charged for it. DO NOT assume you will be dropped automatically.

LOSS OR DAMAGE TO GTC PROPERTY

You may be asked to pay for loss or damage to property, for example, unreturned library books. If you don't, your enrollment may be canceled and no transcripts will be issued.

RETURNED CHECKS

If a check is returned, your account will be placed on restriction and charged the amount of the check plus $30. If you are on restriction, you cannot enroll or receive grades or transcripts, and you may lose check-writing privileges at Greenville Technical College. Returned checks will be submitted to the Solicitor's Worthless Check Unit at a minimum cost of $121.

Changes in eligibility status may affect your financial aid and could result in a debt owed the college from the student.

INDEBTEDNESS

Students must clear any indebtedness to the college before registering for a subsequent semester, before graduating and before receiving official grade reports and/or transcripts.

INCORRECT CLASSIFICATION

A student who has been incorrectly classified as a resident is subject to reclassification and payment of all non-resident fees not paid. If incorrect classification results from false or concealed facts, these students may be charged tuition and fees past due and unpaid at the out-of-state rate.

Early College

Incorrect classification may be a result of participating the Early College program. The Early College program allows high school students to take college classes and receive college credits at a reduced tuition rate. After graduating high school, the student must apply as a regular college student and college tuition rates apply. Students that don't apply as a regular student and still receives the Early College reduced tuition after graduation will have their record corrected and tuition charges will be adjusted.
