Greenville Technical College transforms students’ lives and helps our community thrive by providing a world-class, affordable education to students and building an educated, engaged workforce committed to life-long learning. We seek talented professionals to join us in this important mission!
Here are a few reasons why you should consider sharing your talent with us:
We provide high-quality learning opportunities at a cost people can afford from locations they can reach. Since our beginning in 1962, we have worked with employers to deliver relevant skills, giving students what they need to qualify for good jobs and succeed in their careers. At GTC, we empower individuals, change lives, and reshape communities.
We were established to help improve the state’s economy by producing skilled workers, and we have worked closely with employers to reach that goal ever since. Our Greenville Tech Gives Back program brings students, faculty, and staff together for community service projects across the Upstate.
We recognize that the vibrancy of our community is enhanced by diversity. We believe a culture of inclusion puts diversity into action by creating an environment of involvement, respect and engagement - where a multiplicity of beliefs, interests, experiences, and viewpoints are harnessed to accomplish our goals.
Center for Professional Excellence (CPE)
We support the development of professional, knowledgeable and high-performing employees, encouraging informed risk-taking and implementing employee-driven ideas. Our Center for Professional Excellence provides resources for staff, faculty, and leadership development. Tuition assistance and fee waiver opportunities are also available for eligible GTC employees.
The Center for Professional Excellence supports teaching and learning through a variety of opportunities intended to facilitate professional development for all employees. In collaboration with colleagues and groups such as the Faculty Professional Development Committee and the Employee Professional Development Committee, CPE provides robust employee and faculty orientations as well as ongoing professional development opportunities.
New Employee Orientation II – All new staff members are required to attend a half-day orientation to introduce college culture, programs, and services.
Adjunct Faculty – All new adjunct instructors are required to attend New Adjunct Faculty Orientation at the beginning of their first semester of teaching. In addition, new adjunct faculty must successfully complete Teaching with Blackboard, an asynchronous online course designed to model good course design and to provide training in GTC’s learning management system in their first semester.
Full-Time Faculty Academy - All new full-time faculty are granted one-course release in each of their first two semesters in order to complete the yearlong New Full-Time Faculty Academy. The Academy consists of attending the face-to-face New Faculty Orientation, successfully completing the online Teaching with Blackboard course, participating in all sessions of the Friday Morning Series, and successfully completing the Community College Teaching (CCT) course. (Led by GTC instructors, CCT is offered in a blended format with dates and times for class meetings announced prior to the beginning of each semester.)
Ongoing professional development opportunities available to all faculty and staff include but are not limited to
Workshops - Covering topics such as student engagement, leadership, learning styles, active learning, evaluation and assessment, diversity, and technology, professional development workshops are open to all employees and are advertised via the Workshops of the Week e-mail and through PD4me, GTC’s learning management system for registration and tracking of professional development.
LEaD – The Leadership, Engagement, and Development Series offers the opportunity to complete either of two certificates, one for Leadership and the other for Management/Supervision. Each certificate requires seven two-hour core sessions plus the choice of three two-hour electives, a total commitment of twenty hours.
LiR – The Leader in Residence “experienceship” is designed for full-time employees who desire to learn more about a particular area of the college and who may aspire to serve the college in a leadership role. Participants gain hands-on experience from leaders within the college in order to develop skills and knowledge necessary to be competitive when applying for leadership positions as they become available.
SPEAK - This high-energy, interactive four-part series is designed to help employees grow in confidence to become more influential in speaking with others. This series equips participants with great tips and tools for getting past the fear of speaking in public as well as putting together outstanding presentations to keep listeners engaged.
